It all started with a dream.

In 2020, during the Covid lockdown, our chef was furloughed and stayed at home. He missed the real taste of Nepal, especially momo. At that time, there were not many places in Birmingham or nearby serving good Nepalese momo, and he wanted to change that. He began making momo at home for his family, and seeing how much they enjoyed it gave him the idea to turn it into a business. That is how Taste of Himalayan began.

Our founder worked for more than 30 years in restaurants across India, Qatar, and the UK. He sacrificed time with his family to provide for them and gained a lifetime of experience. After many years working in award-winning restaurants, he finally went on to win awards for his own dream.

In 2024, only one year after opening, Taste of Himalayan was named a finalist for Nepalese Restaurant of the Year. In 2025, we proudly won the award.

Today, our frozen momos are loved across the UK. We supply them to small businesses and also directly to customers who want to enjoy authentic Nepalese flavours at home.

Taste of Himalayan is not just a restaurant. It is a dream, a journey, and a place where you are always welcome.

We might not have a big seating space, but we have big hearts and a big passion for food. On our menu, you will find a mix of Indian and Nepalese street food and curries, each made with care and full of flavour.

We are especially known for our momo, a Nepalese dumpling that has become our signature dish. From soft steamed momo to crispy fried momo and smoky tandoori momo, each one is prepared fresh and served with homemade chutneys. When you visit us, make sure to try some — they are what many of our guests come back for again and again.
